17 Brands Selling Contaminated Mineral Water in Pakistan – PCRWR

Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) recently completed its monitoring report and claimed that 17 brands in the country are selling unsafe water for human consumption.
Contaminated Water
17 brands have been found to be selling water with microbial, chemical, or both types of contamination.
From July to September 2022, 165 samples of mineral/bottled water from various brands were collected from 20 cities.
Sample results from the Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) have declared 17 of them to be unsafe for drinking.
Higher Levels of Sodium
9 brands have been found to be selling water with higher levels of sodium than recommended:
- Andani Premium Drinking Water
- Indus
- Faris
- Nest Pure Live
- Barsay
- Best Natural
- Volvo
- Eltsen
- Dhoom
Higher Levels of Potassium
The results revealed a high level of Potassium than the permissible limit, in the following:
- Pure Handsome Water
- Aqua one
Microbiologically Contaminated
Tests found microbiological contamination in the following mineral water brands:
- Nayab Pure Life
- Indus
- ECO
- NEO
- Blue plus
- Aqua Bello
- Freshino
