All Nishan-e-Haider Holders | Pakistan’s Highest Military Award

Nishan e Haider is the highest bravery and extraordinary courage award in the military in Pakistan. if you want to know about Nishan e Haider history, it was introduced in 1957 but was applied on from the independence of country. Nishan e Haider Holders in Pakistan from 1947 to 2022 are only eleven in number. Here is the list of Nishan e Haider Holder names and Nishan e Haider pics.

Below is the list of all Nishan e Holders with their brief introduction.

1. NAIK SAIF ALI JANJUA SHAHEED

First Nishan e Haider Holder in Pakistan is Naik Saif Ali Janjua was born on April 25, 1922. He was the Naik in 5 Azad Kashmir regiment in Pakistan army when 1948 war started. He took an active part in it but killed during Buddha Khanna siege.

Naik Saif Ali Janjua fought with bravery and showed an exemplary courage and bravery and provide heavy inflicted loss to the enemies. Therefore, he was awarded by Nishan e Haider.

2. CAPTAIN KARNAL SHER SHAHEED

Captain Karnal Sher Khan was born on January 1, 1970. He was at Captain resignation in 27 Sindh regiment/12 in Northern Light infantry in Pakistan army. He was the soldier who also fought in the Kargil war and provide huge loss to the enemy.

During the Kargil war, Sher Khan protected and defended five Pakistani posts. Also, he raids at various army camps to make them defeated. These raids cause heavy loss to India.

It is known that Captain Karnal Sher act like a mettle whom no one can break. He shows a huge courage during the war at the line of control. That’s why he was awarded Nishan e Haider as he set he example of courage and bravery. He died on July 5, 1999.

3. CAPTAIN MUHAMMAD SARWAR SHAHEED

Captain Raja Muhammad Sarwar was born on April 25th, 1910, in Rawalpindi district. He was captain in Punjab regiment in Pakistan army when he took part in the Kashmir war. He fought with courage and bravery was able o kill almost 40 enemies. Due to machine gun shot in the fight, he martyred on October 26, 1948, and was awarded by the Nishan e Haider.

4. MAJOR TUFAIL MUHAMMAD SHAHEED

Major Tufail Muhammad was born in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, Pakistan in 1914. During 1958 war, he was serving in east Pakistan Rifles as a company commander.

Major Tufail Mohmmad attacked on the enemies’ troops and killed a lot of enemies. He also got injured but continued fighting not only with machine gun but also by close combat. He set an example of patriot, determination, and courage. Therefore, was awarded by the Nishan e Haider.

5. MAJOR RAJA AZIZ BHATTI SHAHEED

Major Raja Aziz Bhatti was born on August 6, 1928. During 1965 war, he was serving as major in 17 Punjab regiment in Pakistan army. He was the company commander in the Lahore sector. He decided to remain with his platoon and faced armor division attack for the five days continuously.

Major Raja Aziz Bhatti was the 1st PMA long course holder who also received sword of honor and Norman medal. Due to his outstanding strategies and performance, he was also awarded Nishan e Haider.

6. PILOT OFFICER RASHID MINHAS SHAHEED

Rashid Minhas was Pilot officer in No. 2 fighter conversion unit in Pakistan air force. He was born on February 17, 1951.

On 20th August 1971, he was on the routine exercising flight when the instructor pilot tried to the take the control of the flight and take it off. To protect and prevent the aircraft to go in the opposite border, he damaged the flight controls and crash it in Pakistan border line.

Due to bravery and courage, he got Nishan e Haider award and became the youngest pilot officer to take this award.

7. MAJOR MUHAMMAD AKRAM SHAHEED

Major Muhammad Akram belongs to the 4 Frontier Force regiment in Pakistan Army and born on April 4, 1938. During 1965 war, he was the captain and leaded many successful operations. During 1971 war, he was in the forward area of Hilli district of East Pakistan to command a company.

Major Muhammad Akram also shows exceptional performance in 1971 war. Therefore, he was awarded by Nishan e Haider. His date of death is December 5, 1971.

8. MAJOR SHABBIR SHARIF SHAHEED

Major Shabir Sharif date of birth is April 28, 1943. He was major in 6 Frontier Force regiment in Pakistan Army. He also participated in the 1971 war.

During the 1971 war, he protected the huge ground near Sulemanki Headworks. Also, he got success  to send the forty-three Indian soldiers in the hell. The other his remarkable work was that he destroyed the 4 tanks of Indian soldiers. 

Major Shabir Sharif also has been awarded by the Sitara e Jurat for his bravery and courage. He is the nephew of another Nishan e Haider holder named major Aziz Bhatti. Also, his younger brother is the ex-chief of army named General Raheel Sharif. His date of death is December 6, 1971.

9. SOWAR MUHAMMAD HUSSAIN SHAHEED

Sowar Muhammad Hussain Janjua born on June 18, 1949. He was Sowar in the 20 Lancers of armored corps of Pakistan Army. He too an active part in the 1971 war.

From research it is known that he directed the fire of recoilless rifles that destructed the sixteen tanks of the enemy. Due to his remarkable wisdom, courage, and bravery, he was awarded Nishan e Haider. He was the very soldier from the Armoured corps who was awarded by Nishan e Haider.

Due to his extraordinary performance, courage, and sacrifice, after his death the villagers named his village Dhok Pir Bakhsh as “Dohk Muhammad Hussain Janjua”

10. LANCE NAIK MUHAMMAD MAHFUZ SHAHEED

Lance Naik Muhammad Mahfouz was born on October 25, 1944. He was at lance Naik position in Punjab 15 regiment in Pakistan army. He participated in 1971 war and act like a symbol of courage.

During the 1971 war, famous operation was started named Pul Kunjry operation. During the operation his machine gun got destroyed. But without his gun he showed a courage to step in the army bunker to complete the mission.

To exhibit such level of courage, he was awarded by Nishan e Haider. It has come to known that he was also praised by the enemy commander for his courage. He died on December 17, 1971.

11. HAVALDAR LALAK JAN SHAHEED

Last Nishan e Holder is the Hawaldar Lalak Jan who was born in April 1967. He was Hawaldar, 12 Northern light infantries, in Pakistan army. When Kargil war started, Lalak Jan was also included in the list of soldiers who were frightening to destroy the Indian attacks.

In literature, it is highlighted that Lalak Jan fought at forefront to thwart their aggressive attacks and also succeeded to repulse them back and result a heavy loss for the enemy. Due to his bravery, extraordinary performance, and courage he was awarded Nishan e Haider.

He set an example of determination, bravery, and passion for the soldiers. Lalak Jan was the first man who belongs to the Northern areas and received Nishan e Haider award. He was expired on July 7, 1999.
