During the Asia Cup 2022, Indian batsman Virat Kohli surged back to form with a century against Afghanistan, putting all the criticism on pause. In the 2022 T20 World Cup, he maintained his form and finished as the player with the most runs scored. Later, he displayed his classic batting technique and scored his eagerly anticipated 29th Test century.

The fans are eager to witness the match between Virat and Babar as all of the countries prepare for the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India in October. Imran Khan, a former captain of Pakistan, made a bold prediction about the rivalry between the two hitters when he said that Babar may eclipse Virat’s records.

“I haven’t recently seen cricket, but I believe that Virat Kohli and Babar Azam belong to the same class. Babar Azam can surpass Virat Kohli; he is that good, from what I have seen,” Imran told a local journalist, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Notably, Virat and Babar have a strong friendship off the pitch and have been spotted encouraging one another when things became rough.

Previously, when Virat was going through a rough spell, Babar uploaded a photo of the Indian batter with the remark, “This too shall pass.”

In the T20 World Cup last year, Virat scored an unbroken 82 runs off 53 balls against Pakistan, aiding India in securing a victory by four wickets. However, Pakistan took second place while India was ousted in the semifinals.

The 34-year-old batsman, in addition to his exploits in international cricket, also had a strong showing in the IPL 2023. In 14 games, he scored 639 runs, including two century and six half-centuries.

Babar, on the other hand, has amassed 5089 runs in 100 ODIs and 3696 runs in 47 Test matches. In the longest format, he has nine tonnes, and in the ODI and T20I formats, he has 18 and three centuries.

Babar recently topped the chart with the highest batting average in the number four batting position in the Test format after playing a minimum of 15 innings, ahead of Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. After 20 innings, his astounding average of 69.10 is impressive. He has struck eight half-centuries and four tonnes throughout this time.
