Elon Musk’s Announcement on Twitter’s Tweet Restriction – All You Need to Know

Twitter is limiting how many tweets per day various accounts can read, to discourage “extreme levels” of data scraping and system manipulation, Executive Chair Elon Musk said in a post on the social media platform on Saturday.

Musk mentioned that verified accounts initially had a limit of reading 6,000 posts a day. He added that unverified accounts would be limited to 600 posts a day, while new unverified accounts would be limited to 300.

In a separate post, Musk stated that the temporary reading limitation was later increased to 10,000 posts per day for verified users, 1,000 posts per day for unverified users, and 500 posts per day for new unverified users. However, he did not provide further details.

Previously, Twitter announced that users would need an account on the platform to view tweets, which Elon Musk referred to as a “temporary emergency measure” on Friday.

Musk expressed displeasure with artificial intelligence firms like OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT, for using Twitter’s data to train their large language models.

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, Twitter experienced an outage on Saturday morning, affecting thousands of users. Around 11:17 AM ET, nearly 7,500 users reported issues with accessing the app.

To win back advertisers who left Twitter under Musk’s ownership and boost subscription revenue, the social media platform has taken several steps, including making verification check marks a part of the Twitter Blue program.

While the acquisition of ChatGPT may not be sufficient to regain advertisers and boost revenue, Twitter will likely continue exploring ways to monetize the platform.

The company’s current valuation is under $15 billion, making it an attractive acquisition target for major tech companies or private equity firms in Silicon Valley.

In addition to the acquisition of ChatGPT and other steps, Twitter has made changes to its platform in an effort to attract more users. In November 2018, it announced plans to launch a new feature called “Snooze” that would allow users to temporarily hide posts from specific accounts without unfollowing them.

According to Twitter, the new feature was designed to reduce “stress and anxiety” by allowing users to temporarily hide posts from specific accounts without unfollowing them. The company also said it would begin testing a feature called “Filter Bubble,” which will allow users to see tweets from accounts outside their usual networks.
